According to Gallup’s annual Governance survey, an all-time low number of Americans trust the federal government’s ability to handle problems.

The poll taken from September 5-8, 2013, shows that only 49% of Americans say they have a great deal or a fair amount of confidence in the government’s ability to handle international problems — an entire two percentage points below the previous bottom of 51% recorded in 2007.

During president Obama’s first term, 57% – 66% of Americans said they had a great deal or a fair amount of confidence in the government’s actions abroad.

Domestic trust levels have also reached new lows, with only 42% reporting a great deal or a fair amount of confidence in the federal government’s ability to handle problems inside the United States. The prior low was 43% in 2011.

Certainly, the bad taste put into the mouths of the American people by the push for military action in Syria has contributed to these new historic lows in government trust. Polls shows that seven in 10 Americans say a Syrian strike would achieve nothing beneficial for the United States.

Also, distaste for Obamacare was recently highlighted in a CNN/ORC International poll, with fifty-seven percent of those surveyed saying they opposed most or all of the proposals in the law.

A early August Gallup poll showed that only 14% of American’s approved of Congress, a number on pace to tie 2012 as the lowest yearly average since Gallup began asking Americans to rate Congress’ performance in 1974.

As the emperor’s cloths come off more and more, the American people are growing wise to the out-of-control, monstrous government that has overreached its power on the backs of their tax dollars.
