Millions March Against Monsanto: A Global Awakening Covered Up By The Media

Daisy Luther
Activist Post

Over 2 million people peacefully took to streets around the world to protest the poisoning of the global food supply by the biotech giant, Monsanto.

Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has been pretty quiet about the event.

After relentless phone calls and emails by protesters, some coverage has finally been achieved, preventing the event from being completely blacked out. The same article was published throughout global media, including Yahoo, CTV, Huffington Post, ABC News, and the UK Guardian. The article downplayed the magnitude of the March and the importance of the cause:
Protesters rallied in dozens of cities Saturday as part of a global protest against seed giant Monsanto and the genetically modified food it produces, organizers said.
Organizers said “March Against Monsanto” protests were held in 52 countries and 436 cities, including Los Angeles where demonstrators waved signs that read “Real Food 4 Real People” and “Label GMOs, It’s Our Right to Know.”
Genetically modified plants are grown from seeds that are engineered to resist insecticides and herbicides, add nutritional benefits or otherwise improve crop yields and increase the global food supply. (Huffington Post)

Discover even published a hit piece, calling the event “cartoonish”:
The only thing that’s truly being poisoned is the biotech debate by such rhetoric. I’m also willing to bet that organizers are being as truthful about the number of marchers as they are about the science on genetically modified foods…Nonetheless, there does seem to be many people who buy the notion that dangerous GMOs are being foisted on the world by Monsanto.
The truth of the matter is, over two million people marched in more than 50 countries around the globe (See RT’s excellent timeline of the global event). Despite the grudging media coverage in the mainstream, a sleeping giant has awakened. Many people will no longer accept that what lines grocery store shelves is safe to eat.

We know that we have been sold out, betrayed by the politicians that were duly elected to represent the wishes of their constituencies. The day before the event, the US Senate shot down a bill that would have allowed individual states to require labeling of GMOs. We are fighting a company with billions of dollars, links to the FDA, the USDA and the Supreme Court, and a whole bunch of sketchy politicians in their back pockets. They have fought a sneaky social media war against us, and will continue to pull out all the stops to marginalize the movement against them.

We have to keep the momentum going that we have achieved with the March Against Monsanto. Don’t let it end on May 25, 2013. The only way to defeat Monsanto and the rest of the biotech industry is by spreading information far and wide. We clearly cannot rely on the mainstream media to do this, as evidenced above. So we must use social media, alternative media, and word of mouth.

Print off some labels and put them in the grocery store. Organize your own pickets and hand out flyers in front of the grocery store, letting people know what they’re buying. Go to farmers markets and support your local growers. Sow the seeds of revolution by growing as much of your own food as possible. Most of all, vote with your wallet and don’t buy ANYTHING that puts money into the pockets of companies that support GMOs or that fought against California’s Proposition 37, which would have called for the labeling of GMOs.

What did YOU do on Saturday to try to bring awareness to an issue? Oh, nothing? Yeah. That's what I thought.

Forget about mainstream media. We are the Media! Spread this news to our brothers and sisters all over the world so they will awake and join the cause. We, The People, are Disclosure!

@Hide Behind / Nobody gives a rats-ass if "the media" officially noticed because this isn't about cracking the corporate-owned media. They are bought-and-paid-for dinosaurs (much like yourself).

And, for what it's worth, your grammar and punctuation are pathetic and your post is nearly unreadable. No wonder nobody takes you seriously.

Have you ever tried learning to write a coherent sentence? Or are you yet another product of the failed USA school system?

As Ms. Luther said, Monsanto is engaging in a social media counterattack, and the foregoing post is another example of just that. "Hide Behind," another newly-minted poster, is one of that small collection of conscience-less or cowed minions of Monsanto who,no longer able to dupe readers of this and other alternative news websites, are now reduced to the kind of pitiful whining which comprised that post. "Hide Behind," pass this along to your paymaster: Pseudonyms can no longer hide it from the wrath of an awakened global public.

It5's time for the next step folks. Get it? Stop wasting our time and grow a pair. Put a stop to poisoning us once and for all. Come on then...

Last week China burned 3 huge imported shipments of GMO seed corn, joining Russia, India and Brazil in banning GMO corn. Last week, Hungary burned 1000 acres of GMO corn. It is quite possible that the overseas communities will be responsible for shifting our planet away from Monsanto. This will highlight just how much Monsanto controls our government.

Awareness of issue was since 'Silent Spring" and I saw where a river at low tide had caught on fire

Awareness of issue when my friends children born withh deformitys and a few comrades died of cancer from an orange agent.
An agent they then volored purple amd used on dvhol grpunds and along hiways and railroad tracks
amd then when caught was then still sllowed to be made here along with DDT and sold to Mexican farmers by. Dow and Umoon Carbide.
Awareness of Bopal India, which by the way was the worst but not first oops. and add a few dollrs ars a month to a little girl that died by DOW Docs description as an hereditary lung disorder.

Awareness of issue of 'thalydamide baby's in relatives familys.
Awareness of vets going bonkers since 1950's when Sat in bars with ramps and vets as far back as spanish war in Phollipines crying in their booze.
Yes I been aware gor a long fucking time and ehile you woosys play at being civilized this fn earth had been picking up speed toward a hellish futire and each day sees more death and destruction as millions play in the nice clean parks with their protest dress gowns drinking bottles of water they hope is safe to drink.
You live in a culture of make believe.
Try read a book by that title written by a activist from Washington State.
Then grow a set.

Agree with Tere and Gaby - yet so many still look to the MSM for their compass - the psycho-bully money-men's downfall will be their lack of empathic perspective, they knew that fiat money would run its course, they obviously have plans for that - von Braun said it would be a fake alien invasion, to create the biggest war footing ever to re-boot the fiat empire. >>This will highlight just how much Monsanto controls our government.<<

The proper paradigm, in my well researched view, is that the international banking cartel controls the world's money center banks that then use their power to create and issue debt money to buy up and/or control Monsanto, government, education, sick care, insurance, agra, and everything else big.

Maoleon was right - "the hand that give is GREATER than the hand that takes."

America is a servant to the international debt money banking cartel, NOT a sovereign nation.

I think that people fail to realize that we still have the capability to work together and grow our own food and to own farm animals, doesnt it make much more sense to go back to trading with each other? and helping eachother out. honestly after finding out the gov has been feeding us harmfull food delibritly even if they fixed the issue whos to say it wouldnt happen aagain. i think its time for us to stop hopeing the government will put our need before it's own and handle our buisness. . . . The only way you will know 100% about something is if you do it 100% yourself.
