Turmeric Proven to Fight Diabetes…Again!

Mike Barrett

Research highlighting turmeric’s powerful health-boosting properties just seems to never cease, with some recent research showing yet again that the super spice can help to prevent diabetes risk thanks to the spice’s active compound curcumin.

What’s more, the compound helps to prevent diabetes among those with pre-diabetes – indicated that extremely high blood sugar levels that could ultimately result in type 2 diabetes.

Without a doubt, there is a clear connection between turmeric and diabetes prevention.

Published in the journal Diabetes Care, the study involved 240 Thai adults with prediabetes. The participants were divided into 2 groups, with one group taking curcumin capsules containing 250 milligrams of curcuminoids, while the other was given a placebo. After a 9 month period, it was found that 19 individuals of the 116-person placebo group developed type 2 diabetes, while none of the participants of the 199-person curcumin group developed the disease.

“Because of its benefits and safety, we propose that curcumin extract may be used for an intervention therapy for the prediabetes population,” Dr. Somlak Chuengsamarn of Srinakharinwirot University in Nakornnayok, Thailand and the researchers write.

Turmeric and curcumin have been shown in previous research to also fight inflammation and oxidative damage – two processes which help a number of diseases to appear and develop, including type 2 diabetes. One study published in the journal Nutrition shows how turmeric normalizes insulin and triglyceride levels while boosting antioxidant defenses; keeping triglyceride and insulin levels low effectively reduces your risk for numerous health conditions like metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and – you guessed it – diabetes.

Shelia West, conductor of the study published in the journal Nutrition, found that the levels of triglycerides, a type of fat, decreased by approximately a third in a meal prepared with spices. The decrease even occurred when oily sauces high in fat were present. The research shows how extremely simple dietary changes can have such a positive influence on health.

What’s also fantastic about turmeric spice is that it provides a large array of other health benefits. In addition to preventing and fighting diabetes, turmeric has also been shown to:
  • Rest among the most powerful of cancer-fighting foods.
  • Promote healthy fat loss.
  • Help detoxify the liver and promote liver health.
  • Cut heart disease risk.
  • Be a solution for skin issues such as acne.
What’s great about the implementation of turmeric is that the spice doesn’t come with the harsh side effects that tag along with historically dangerous diet drugs.

Instead of resorting to such drugs, try adding turmeric into your daily lifestyle by using turmeric in a number of different delicious ways.

So what about those who already have Type 2 - can they have this Tumeric or is it too late for them?

Has anyone bothered to do a study about whether or not Tumeric also works on those who already have Type 2?

Coz if there is NO study on that, then I think this is nothing but a huge FRAUD. If it helps prevent diabetes, then surely it can help heal or remove it as well.

why do people spend money, time to prove something Indians have practiced over thousand years? Just come to India and learn way of life to be healthy in body, mind and more importantly soul

"Come to India..."

hmm... You guys are being bombarded with GMO seeds like crazy. More than us, actually. No. I think I'll stay in the already poisoned environment I live in, thank you very much. But, I will definitely purchase more turmeric and support your businesses!

I've already been using it, actually. I even sprinkle a bit in my 20 year old Siamese cat's soft food. Poor thing just about doesn't have teeth left. We mash her food up, add a little water, and sprinkle on turmeric. She loves it and a small infection she had in her gums has cleared up within two weeks. Didn't have to take her to the vet after all. She's as playful as a kitten.

The article I read a while back about a Big Pharma company trying to slap a patent on turmeric still makes me laugh my azz off. Talk about egotistical!

Here's a great way to get your turmeric on a daily basis and it's a real treat, too.

1 cup of milk(cow, goat, coconut, doesn't matter.
1/2 tsp turmeric.
1/2 tsp ginger, raw or powdered
A sprinkle of ground black peppercorns

Simmer over Low/Medium heat in a pot, stirring frequently(scraping the bottom of the pot!) for about three minutes, and then sip at your leisure.

Only good warm, really. Cold it'll make you gag. I tried it already.

Anyway, turmeric-ginger milk is a nice treat in the afternoon that i have with a late snack with fruit. Hope you enjoy the recipe, anyone who tries it. It's very soothing and relaxing.

Sprinkle turmeric on just about any(mixable)food you eat and I promise you that it's mild enough to not change the flavor a whole lot. It's very easy to naturally incorporate it into your diet.

Most diabetes is caused by lifestyle choices so you are not 'fighting' diabetes you are paying the price for decades of poor diet. Eating any amount of Tumeric will not reverse the physical effects caused by decades of poor diet.

The best way of 'fighting' diabetes is to stop being a selfish pig.

Thanks for the article. I know for certain that bitter melon can cure diabetes. The chemical in it mimics insulin and some called it p-insulin for plant insulin.

I used it to cure my acne because I theorized that my blood sugar was too high and the sugar circulating in my blood stream promotes inflammation, or acne outbreaks.

You can buy bitter melon pills at a vitamin shop but be careful with it because dropping sugar too low can lead to shocks.

We know that giving kids sugar before bad make them hyper and they won't go to sleep. Pop a pill before bed if you need it and you'll sleep like a baby.

Of course I thought too that without sugar, your body shuts down and you sleep. So it also functions as a sleeping pill.

Google all this up.
