My 84-year-old pal John and I stand each Tuesday outside the local library with our protest signs. We’ve been out there, one hour each week, for over a year; before that for six years on a busy street corner during rush hour.
One day, this German lady approached us. She thanked us for taking the time out and added “You know, Americans don’t like to get out and protest. If this was Germany, and our government did what yours did, we’d have thousands outside this library, not just two people.”
How correct she was. The Germans, the French and all the European peoples remember, or are taught, what it was like to be occupied and threatened by the Nazi police state. We Americans are lucky that our nation has never been occupied by a foreign power. Never! Thus, you would think that it might have been more difficult for us Americans to accept the propaganda pertaining to 9/11 and the phony wars that followed. The opposite was true, sadly.
From Mathew in the New Testament: “And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all of them who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of them that sold (sacrificial) doves, and said onto them ‘It is written, My house should be called a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.’"

Why did it take Jesus to initiate this action? How long had this process gone on in the Jewish religion? Why did not others, those who agreed with Jesus, take the mantle and challenge the powers that be? After all, this was not challenging the Roman Empire, which would have done harm to anyone who protested their edicts. This was not like a German in the mid-1930s challenging the Nazi regime. No, the similarities between the silence of those who agreed with Jesus and the silence of those who agree with modern activists is striking.
Look at what occurred here in America before we invaded Iraq . . . and after. We had a group of so-called leaders and advisors to leaders who had a tattered track record on patriotism. Mitt Romney, in the late 1960s, supported the Vietnam War, yet refused to join up and fight the good fight.

We have the infamous chicken hawks of the Junior Bush gang, starting with Junior himself. Bush supported the Vietnam War and chose to stay safely at home in the Texas Air National Guard. Then we have Dick Cheney, who received at least five deferments, none of them medical by the way, yet he vociferously supported the war.
Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz and others connected with the Bush crew cheered for 'War War War' yet never would dare go and fight. Years later all of these people, along with a compliant mainstream media, railed about the threat that Saddam Hussein and his army presented to us here at home. How he was connected with Al Qaeda and Bin Laden, and how he had WMDs ready to use on us in America or our surrogate in the Middle East, Israel.
All lies! Factor out the one day in February 2002 that many Americans stood up and spoke out, and after that . . . Silence! To this day . . . Silence! As with the Jews who agreed with Jesus about their religion being hijacked by liars, scoundrels and hypocrites . . . today we see the same thing here.
Imagine for one minute if all of the Americans who know deep inside that our nation has become a military-industrial empire actually spoke up. Instead of a handful of us out there on the street corners and town squares, there would be thousands, as that German lady suggested.

What truth could then be expressed to the few who do the lying, cheating and conning? One simple hour a week of public protest is all it would take to peacefully initiate real and lasting change in the very fabric of our society. We do not need leaders to tell us what to do; all we need is a ‘symphony of voices’ to shout down the warmongers who are placed before us to hinder and confuse us.

You've been occupied since 1913, which goes a long way toward explaining why the people didn't protest 9/11 and all the ensuing illegal wars. The unique occupation is of the covert type. The brainwashing has been thorough.
"When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie." - Yevgeny Yevtushenko
It's kind of funny how easily one can shift the focus of political issues to control the people's minds.
Once upon a time the main political issue was statism vs anarchism, after decades of controlled perceptions it has been shifted so today it's "Left vs Right" - two hands controlled by the same head and completely meaningless.
Sadly while I personally would prefer an anarchistic system of self-assembly by mutual will and desire I fear after decades or really centuries of "education"(programming) of a very large portion of the world's population has taken past the point where anarchism is a practical model.
People have been programmed for Statism and 'urbanized' life and most would not last without it anymore.
What is needed is a direct participatory democratic Statist system similar to Libya's former(and hopefully future) Jamaharia.
Breaking down big government and localizing government operations with either a controlled or free-market economic system could do very well in America or other western nations.
Everyone gathers in what are essentially town-hall meetings once a month or something to hash out what the people in that district/city-state desire and appoint non-paid volunteers to carry out policies, contracting as much as possible to private enterprises.
Make all information from that government in action completely public for all citizens of that nation in a simple format, total information freedom.
That way the people can know exactly what is going on and have the power to intervene if they see their limited bureaucracy starting to go off the straight and narrow - before they hit a double or triple digit trillion dollar debt or have martial law imposed on them, etc.
It may not be perfect but as long as the rights of the minority are always protected I'd rather trust the people directly to figure out what's best for them than the crooked politicians who spend all their time figuring out ways to increase their income while stealing more of the people's.
Seems reasonable, no?
Where is code stink and Cindy Sheehan? Ohh..it is ok if the war is run by a democrat. I see.
No, it's not OK whoever the warmonger is - Obama and Romney both are eager for more war and do the bidding of AIPAC.
Use your common sense and have the courage to VOTE FOR RON PAUL whether he is on the ballot or not.
"Our nation has never been occupied by a foreign power"?
I am an Iroquois. My nation was occupied by the white man from Europe. We were defeated in battle and coralled into holding pens like cattle.
We would say that our occupiers are an oppressive race. They behave much as the Nazis would have behaved had they occupied Europe. They have no respect for our ways.
Our leaders said that one day this treatment would come back to haunt the white man.
That time may have come, although we do not seek vengance.
The author belongs to that culture which assumes 'ownership' of this land. We have no such ambition and no such concept. The sea, rivers land and sky are part of our common heritage.
Until the white man understands this there will
always be war in our land.
The southern states have been occupied since 1861. On top of it, their history has been so twisted to make them believe their forefathers were terrible people. Our public indoctrination centers (schools) do not teach the basics or history so we have lemming that follow and believe anything.
Interesting truths about who owns whom. The fact is we haven't reached that 'tipping point' yet where it is really hurting the general population. Vietnam had a draft and the young protested. Subsequent false flags are answered by a stealth backdoor draft with the National Guard, as well as privatized militia. But our days are surely numbered through an economic collapse brought on by this, as well as greed and graft.
THE END OF THE MILITARY DRAFT IN THE EARLY 1970s ALSO PUT AN END TO THE STUDENT MOVEMENT IN THE U.S. THIS WAS A VERY CLEVER MOVE BY THE GOVERNMENT. THE STUDENTS HAVE DROPPED THE BALL BIG TIME BY DOING NOTHING ABOUT 911 AND ALL THE SUBSEQUENT EVENTS. TO A GREAT DEGREE THE STUDENTS ARE TO BLAME FOR OUR CURRENT AND FUTURE SITUATION.

2012 appears to ask every person to choose divine prophecy, which requires courage to awaken beyond limiting beliefs and patterns, and take a stand for what matters most to us in life.
I choose peace on Earth and in space - the last card, OUTER SPACE SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT TREATY 2012, which reads like a 'story' http://peace-treaty.com Excerpt: The Parties to This Treaty
Realize that the demonstrated capability of extraterrestrial cultures from the multiverse to neutralize any missile or nuclear capability is in itself not a threat message, but does serve notice of our limited understanding of physics and the clearly dangerous consequences of continuing to use destructive technologies,
Affirm that the possibility of reclaiming a peaceful future for humankind and a safe environment on Earth is intimately linked with curbing our violence toward each other and Earth, and with preparing to survive as Gaea heals herself, and that counsel and support from Cosmic Civilizations thousands of years our senior would be
exceedingly helpful,
Note that every class of space-based weapons, including weapons of mass destruction or precise destruction, is a symbol of fear for which violence provides no remedy, Recognize that space must forever be free of man-made hazards, and must be a passageway to the secrets of our past and the challenges of our future,
Are inspired by the great prospects of Earth taking its rightful place in the Cosmos and the citizens of off-Earth realms sharing the fruits of their cultures with humankind.
I suggest it's time to release distractions, conjecture, and move beyond a ‘vote’ to unite in a spirit of cooperation to free us and a New Earth, where peace, harmony, justice, equality, fair care share, prosperity and all things good prevail. I perceive the Treaty is our bridge to a New Earth Garden.
