That monologue might have been great but the show is nothing but propaganda, IMO. Against the Tea Party and liberty movements . . . pro liberal bias. And I was really looking forward to the show starting. Now it's "CLICK" on the off button for me.
It was good for the most part up until around the 2:00 mark when it turned to pure propaganda.
Were those good things America once stood for things like decimating the Native population and stealing their lands from the moment settlers got off their boats, attacking Mexico and seizing their lands by force because of "Manifest Destiny", firebombing millions of Europeans and firebombing + nuking millions of Japanese/Asians in WWII, wiping out millions of Koreans and Vietnamese with purposefully and unnecessarily brutal and murderous war strategies, toppling democratically elected governments all over the world and enslaving sovereign nations to private corporations(Banana and these days Oil Republics)?
(and so on, and on, and on...)
The only "good" things America has ever stood for to those outside the U.S.A have been pure propaganda fed to those inside it.
I'm sure someone will say "freedom" but Reality would say otherwise, unless of course you are talking about the "freedom" for Americans to overthrow, invade, economically destroy, pillage, etc. any and every People of their choosing on this planet for any reason they desire.
Sure there are some good things America has given the world, but it is ridiculous to focus on those few things and ignore the massive amount of very bad stuff America has done and is doing to the World in order to maintain a delusion that "America the Great" is a shining beacon of Light guiding the world into greater Times.
I know the U.S government white-washed history after WWI to erase the whole 'Imperial America' image that they had promoted for decades before that but the reality is America has always sought out to conquer other people as pure Imperialists.
Every once and a while they change the propaganda from "We need to civilize the World by force to make the world more like America" to "We need to take over huge portions of the World to fight some evil forces" , to "We need to invade and occupy country's X,Y and Z because they are a threat to our national security".
But under all that propaganda is the same Old Imperialist BS.
But HBO would never point that out since they are part of that massive propaganda system making people believe that a "return to better times" is what America needs.
Yes, let's return to scalping Native's and "Manifest Destiny" and slave trading, etc., those were much better times... for some Americans... And F**K everyone else.
That's the 'American Way', and it's been so since the beginning whether some Americans want to accept it or not.
America has,for along time now, been under the control of the banksters in the "city of london",[look it up-wikepedia is free]. and not only us but the whole world has been held hostage, terrorized, murdered/slaughteredand made to suffer at the hands of these "ELITE". Show me a country that didn't use force and take-over of other countries. England,Rome, China, Germany,etc., etc. , etc. have always and forever been the worst for this method throughout history. How about some examples of how much America has helped the World?
I know there are some since even I conceded America has done good things, but apparently you can't even think of any yourself?
I can't think of a single thing that America has done or does for the World today that is unique to America.
Even the Chinese and Russians dole out billions for assisting other nations exactly the same way America does and have disaster response teams and such just like the U.S and what have you.
What is unique is America's need for 'global military command and control' and how they often refuse to allow Russian or Chinese aid and response teams into countries facing disaster because America just automatically assumes command and control of the entire planet in such cases, with no regard to the needs of the actual victims they are supposedly there to help.
When America deems it necessary to have military domination of the World it is kind of America's responsibility to provide such services as they won't allow anybody else to have the same resources to provide those services.
Heck, America can't even claim exceptionalism at rebuilding the countries that they destroy as the Russians have done a fine job of that in Georgia since 2008, whereas most of Iraq and especially Afghanistan(11 years on) still lies in ruins today and/or is still in the process of being blown up.
The only thing America as a nation is exceptional at is believing the complete and total BS propaganda their government and media and other corporations feed them about how exceptional America is.
Being the biggest Bully in a world full of bullies doesn't justify America's actions and certainly does not make it exceptional.
And I'm not American though living so close to the U.S/Canada border(technically as far South as Northern Cali) I may as well be as damn near everything here is American owned and operated these days.
But I really don't have anything against America as I think it has the potential to actually live up to the propaganda hype if it's People woke up, smartened up and stood up together in Unity and demanded true change.
But as it stands to this date (with a few exceptions) America has never come close to living up to the hype of it's propaganda.
America doesn't need to go back to 'better times' as those were mostly BS too, it needs to advance and improve on what has come before to help shape a better world and be that Beacon of Light in the World that so many Americans want it to be.
America needs to get out from under the dominion of the City of London, The Vatican, and The United Nations, who have used her military as cannon fodder and funded themselves through her resources and her income taxes to do all of those things she is accused of. There is a good reason she has the military that is actually the police force of the UN, or world military, while the other two sovereign entities represent the control of money and religion on the planet. One fault lies with the people for being so trusting and easily manipulated but the real power to do evil lies with MI6 who controls both US and Israeli intelligence and the black nobility of the Italian states including Rome who controls the Vatican and likely the U.S. elections as well.
