Iran Increases Naval Defense Amidst Threats From West and Israel

Iran is beefing up its naval defenses amidst ongoing threats and propaganda from the West and Israel over its non-weaponized civilian nuclear power program. The plan involves heavier policing of international waters and the building of more warships to ward off encroaching neighbors and to protect them from possible attacks [1].

The threat from the Zionist state is not to be underestimated. Although Iran is labeled as the aggressor through the biased Western mainstream media, it was Israel who reiterated threats against the Islamic Republic on Wednesday, calling for the International community to make it clear that “…there is a credible military option,” on the table [2].

Despite not signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty and having a policy whereby nuclear attacks would be launched if they determine the Zionist regime is threatened [3], Israel has the gall to dictate to other nations how they should react to Iran, a country that does agree to peaceful nuclear operations. An Israeli official arrogantly declared to the Jerusalem Post earlier this week that word leaders should do as they say regarding Iran. “[Israel] would like the international community to say that these are our demands, these are our sanctions, comply…or else.”

It is then understandable why Iran wants it known that they will not back down and are prepared to defend themselves.

“Our presence in international waters is aimed at safeguarding the interests of the Islamic Republic and strengthening military power to defend Iran,” said Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the country’s current naval commander. “We will multiply our efforts to enhance our military might and have a presence in international waters,” he continued [4].

Iran has suggested that they will block the Strait of Hormuz, the most important oil route in the world, if they are further targeted under the faux-nuclear-threat pretense [5]. They have also shown support for Syria, having docked at a Syrian naval base earlier in the year [6]. Although the Syrian crisis is complex, there is ample evidence that the West and Israel are covertly fomenting the violence by supporting the rebels [7], in order to gain political influence over the region, therefore moving the proxy war closer to Iran and Russia.

Sayyari also revealed via state news agency IRNA, that the Gulf of Aden region of the Indian Ocean is a particular concern and the new strategy will help guard Iran’s cargo ships from growing hostility from Somali pirates.

As of now Iran has ordered the construction of 11 more vessels, consisting of missile-launching frigates and destroyers; the first (a Mowj-2 class destroyer) set for completion next March.

Should a military conflict take place, Britain and the United States have unsurprisingly pledged support for Israel, with Britain planning to permit the US to launch jets from the Diego Garcia colony in the Indian Ocean [8].

Despite the saber-rattling against them, Iran came to the aid of a US cargo ship that was attacked by pirates last month [9].

Who’s being peaceful and who’s the real threat?
