Blatant Corporate Media Propaganda Inciting Hatred of Syria to Justify Intervention

Eric Blair
Activist Post

It's more obvious everyday that propaganda is getting more blatant, more in our face.  Mostly we just assume it has always been there but it's usually cleverly subtle.  Not lately though.  It's blood in your face time especially in regards to the "conflict" in Syria.

Take a look at this Huffington Post front page from today:

This struck me for several reasons which I'll get into; but first, this is at least the third time they've plastered their front page with this propaganda in the last couple of weeks.  These blood-soaked headlines always lead to an Associated Press story, or, in this case, Reuters.

It's difficult to even know where to begin breaking down the blatant propaganda tactics used here. Let's ignore the gory red paint splatters on the Syrian flag, as that one is pathetically obvious.

To bring some immediate perspective to this headline, imagine if it read "HORROR: NEW MASSACRE IN PAKISTAN -- Activists: American Drone Bombs Slaughter 78...Women and Children Killed."

But that headline would never happen because they (the State Department controlled AP and Reuters) would never allow those emotional trigger words to be used.  Instead, "militants" were always killed with maybe a bit of collateral damage during "U.S. drone mission."  No one was ever slaughtered or massacred during drone "missions" . . . those words are only used to describe the enemy's actions.

Focus on the emotional trigger words "Horror", "Massacre", "Slaughter", and "Children Killed".  All it takes is a millisecond's glance and you want revenge on the Syrian government.

Also notice the disclaimer words "Reported" and "Activists", meaning it may not have happened but someone said it did -- so we'll call it a massacre.

Now look at the actual title and the article which appears to be a joint effort by Reuters and the Huffington Post: Hama Massacre: Qubair, Syria, Site Of Fresh Violence, According To Unconfirmed Reports.

The crux of the short article read:
Activists said pro-government militia men and security forces killed at least 78 people, including children, in Syria's central province of Hama on Wednesday.
Some of those killed in the village of Mazraat al-Qubair were stabbed to death, the activists said, and at least 12 bodies had been burned.
The unconfirmed reports suggest that at least 40 victims were women and children. (emphasis added)
Do these reports ever really get confirmed, or just repeated over and over? It doesn't really matter because the propaganda has served its shock value whether proven false later or not.

And why use the words "pro-government militia men and security forces"?  Why not call them the Syrian army or local police forces?  So many layers of manipulation going on here.  Read "pro-government" as the bad guys, "militia men" as terrorist thugs, and "security forces" as a sort-of private mercenary guard.

The other line that struck me was, "The anonymous activist said that militias loyal to the regime raided the village and began executing people using knives and AK-47s."

How did this anonymous activist know this ragtag knife-wielding "militia" was loyal to the regime?  Did they announce it on their arrival?  If so, that smells even worse like a false flag.  Unfortunately no further details were given.

But they were efficient enough to tie this story to the previous "unconfirmed" massacre by "pro-government" forces from last week to continue to display a pattern of abuse by Syria to justify Western intervention.

Huffington Post is the epitome of the progressive hypocrisy in America; those who once vehemently opposed the Bush Doctrine of preemptive intervention and war to stop "bad guys" who never attacked or threatened to attack the U.S., but now support that policy with Obama in the White House.

They cheered for the Libya intervention, saying it wouldn't take more than days when it turned out to take over six months to fully destroy that beautiful country who never harmed anyone outside of her borders.

And now it appears as though they're cheering for more intervention into Syria, who also never harmed anyone outside her borders, and the harm (massacre) happening inside the country is coming from "unconfirmed reports" from "anonymous activists."

Unconfirmed reports from anonymous sources shouldn't be enough meat for such a bloody headline. Loaded with emotional trigger words, this is how they sell hatred and preemptive war.  In other words, it's clear war propaganda.

It matters not what is actually going on in Syria. I'm sure bad things are happening on both sides of the conflict.  But to see a breaking "news" item presented this way over and over, only to find flimsy reports, you have to wonder what the real truth is.

It's not quite as bad as the BBC getting caught using images from Iraq while reporting on atrocities in Syria, but it's still going above and beyond to shill for war.

It's time for real antiwar progressives to look past the ketchup stains on the Syrian flag at their favorite news site and dig deeper into how they are being manipulated to give up their principles of peace before they justify even more bloodshed in the name of America.

In other important news, CNN ran the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (commercial free), complete with the commentator repeatedly saying "and there's the queen, smiling and waving to her subjects."

Reminds me of Bill Hicks' American Gladiator bit "Here, watch this America and shut up!"

The propaganda CAN'T work if people would just laugh at these reports. We know they are not true so why get all upset with the government's words. Why follow the government's script and engage in serious debate? If everyone laughed at this story, it would never be repeated again and the effect of propaganda would be stopped dead in its tracks.

This story is a joke, people; albeit a cruel one. It's OK to laugh at jokes, even in America!

Activitist means Al-Qaeda (US clones) created all the killings and blame it on the Syrian Government. US and Nato have become "ROGUE" and need to be stop by her people and global citizens wake up to the Western atrocities in modern history

The Liar

What is it that makes a lie a lie?
Is it because the truth cannot get by?
Or is it because the belief
That is carried on has become a thief
Or is it that we willingly listen to shadows and dens
Because we fear the daylight and the shining lens
That will expose us for the falsehood we have become
And prefer instead to ignore, and lies undone
Lest we expose ourselves for the ugly truth we are
When we are to ourselves the accursed liar

I heard Jim Naughtie of the BBC lying out of his backside this morning. He said the evidence seems 'overwhelming' that this is the work of the Syrian government. How is he to know sitting in a studio in London without any evidence? The spokesman for the Syrian National Council he was speaking to, also in London, agreed, saying we have to believe what the 'activists' are saying.

This is downright propaganda. You don't even have to clever to see that. It's clear the BBC and other Western media are misreporting events without verifiable evidence. They are clearly taking their cues from above.

As Goebbels said, you repeat a lie a thousand times and people eventually begin to believe it. Goebbels will be pleased with what the BBC is doing today!

Hmmm

What is not mentioned here of course is exactly who owns the Huffington Post all virtually all the other main stream media in the US. It is the zionists that own and control the US media, not to mention much of the rest of the Western World. So the blame for such treason falls right on the door of the zionists. The most evil, dispicable, vile and criminal group the world has even known.

People the murders taking place in Syria are being done by Mercs and agents of Israel and the US. These 2 countries are literally murdering thousands of women and children to justify a war against a country which has never ever posed any threat what so ever to anyone accept Israel. And the only reason it is a threat to israel is because they refuse to cowtow to them. Good grief people the enter US federal government is under the control of the zionists. It is either that or the entire federal government is stark raving mad.

My gut says the shadowy deranged behind the puppet US gov want control of all the oil, iraq, afghanistan, n now iran, they'l stop at nothing. Then instead of shipping it all the way around africa, they want a pipeline directly to the mediterranean. Syria is in the way. US history shows if a gov's leader doesnt do what the US wants, it takes em out (chile, panama, iraq...)(watch john perkins "confessions of an economic hitman"). Watching all this unfold is like watchin a kid do a puzzle, one piece at a time.

"As Goebbels said, you repeat a lie a thousand times and people will eventually begin to believe it. Goebbels will be pleased with what the BBC is doing today!"

I doubt that as that quote from Goebbels about the 'big lie' is entirely misquoted out of context 99% of the time it is mentioned.

Goebbels was referring to the Allied/Bolshevik/Jewish propaganda system that was so effective when discussing the 'big lie' technique, not approving of it himself or "inventing" it as is implied 99% of the time that quote gets tossed around.

It's like all the people who say that Hitler outlined the Nazi propaganda system in 'Mein Kampf' that constantly show they have never actually picked up a copy of the book themselves.

In Mein Kampf, written in the mid-20's after WWI and the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia Hitler describes the extremely effective Bolshevik and 'Allied'/western propaganda system and provides great commentary on it.

But to say he was talking about the Bolshevik/Allied propaganda system is taboo because the Nazi's are supposed to be the 'propaganda kings' of the last century so it would be bad PR to point out that the Nazi's learned everything they used from Russia, Britain, U.S.A, etc.

It's similar to how the Bolshevik Revolution was assisted by tens of thousands of U.S troops that remained in Russia after WWI, but strangely only Russian history teaches of U.S involvement in the Revolution, and only a small amount at that focusing on a couple of prison camps the U.S troops ran for the Bolsheviks.

I mean honestly how can we as a people be expected to see through this type of modern propaganda when we are still cluelessly lapping up propaganda from 60-80+ years ago that has been disputed or proven false repeatedly during that time?

If a people has ignored reality and accepted propaganda for 50+ years does that make the propaganda true simply because most people believe it?

It's one of those 'if a tree falls...' kind of things I guess.

Even when we are given the Truth the context is perverted to hide the reality behind that Truth.

There are a number of great historical revisionist sites out there today that touch on various successful and failed attempts to initiate 'genocide' myth propaganda over the past century.

If you add up all the Allied propaganda figures for how many people the Germans murdered in WWI(in cold blood, not just 'typical war' stuff) I think you get around 20 million people massacred in total.

Only a few thousand such victims were discovered to have existed after the war when hundreds of investigators descended on Europe to sift through the bullshit and find the truth.

They largely prevented that after the next World War so the propaganda is still sustained in the general public today.

If you can find it a book by Sidney Rogerson entitled "Propaganda in the Next War" from 1938 is a very valuable read for anyone interested in the modern history of propaganda.

The Australian National Library has a copy - http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/981550

These days only controlled media is allowed in to the war zones, if in bed, errr embedded with the forces - so no sifting through bullshit to find truth anymore, just 'trusted journalists' telling us to accept the bullshit as truth because we won't get anything else from them.

What FoxNews did for W Bush, HuffingtonPost does for Obama.

They both peddle soft lies to brain dead devotees of a puppet President in support of immoral wars drawn up by bankster scum.

Thanks for this. Can't believe so many people go to sites like Huffington without realizing they're political kettles. And yes the Bush-Obama hypocrisy is appalling.

Let's just suppose Huffpo takes their place beside the NYT and Iraq propaganda and destabilizes Syria. Then what? How's Libya going? The world is being maneuvered into a regional, then global war..... for what, for whom? It sure isn't for us.
