Celente: Revolutionary Fervor to Spread Beyond Arab States; Europe Next

KINGSTON, NY, 1 February 2011 - When the Tunisian government toppled, the mass media and their stable of experts who were blindsided by these events quickly stepped in to proclaim the obvious: that citizens of other Arab nations would be emboldened to challenge autocratic and corrupt governments.

Now Egypt is in the throes of insurrection, and Algeria, Jordan, Morocco and Yemen are already targeted for revolutionary change. The richer and more tightly controlled Kingdoms of the Middle East will not be immune to challenges from their citizenry to break the chains of royal rule.

Governments hoard food stockpiles in anticipation of public uprisings

Economic failures, government corruption, banking system fraud -- these and many other factors have together contributed to the escalating turmoil that the world currently faces. The costs associated with everything from energy and fuel to food and health care have soared in recent years because of manipulation of the fiat monetary system, and actual shortages of resources. And according to reports, nervous governments are now starting to stockpile massive food stocks to offset what they believe is a coming wave of civil unrest over the continued rising costs of basic essentials.

Though not typically a course of action in the U.S., protests and even aggressive riots are rather common in many countries around the world, particularly those with blatantly authoritarian governments. When the noose gets a little bit too tight, the people of these nations often quickly push back and demand changes. The current situation in Egypt, for example, is a perfect illustration of what people are willing to do when they are pushed too far by their tyrannical overlords.

But the unrest is beginning to spread worldwide. As food prices continue to rise, and commodities traders warn about "panic buying" over fears of massive price increases, desperate populations are starting to take it to the streets, much like they did in 2008 when food prices skyrocketed (http://www.naturalnews.com/023277_rice_food_prices.html). But it appears as though the world is headed for another, and this time possibly worse, food crisis in the very near future.

Earlier this week, Popular Science published a step-by-step guide to building genetically modified seeds. The six stage process they outline, from finding a new trait to the genes expressing themselves, takes at least a decade—and doesn't even include gaining regulatory approval. The mechanical processes of genetic engineering, shorn of any debate over ethics, safety, or intellectual property, are a curious blend of painstaking grunt-work and technological ingenuity.

For example, take a look at step two: grabbing genes from a seed. In the past, this was a lengthy and time-consuming process that involved: "planting the seed, growing the plants to a certain size, and then clipping a paper-hole-puncher through a leaf to gather a sample."

Israel’s Fears Over Egyptian Uprising a Very Good Sign for People of the Middle East

Anyone who knows anything about the regime of Egyptian dictator, Hosni Mubarak, knows that one of the main roles of his government has been to protect and buffer Israel (and its illegal and genocidal crimes against the Palestinians). So, recent reports that Israel is afraid and worried about the Egyptian revolution [1] is a cause for celebration for all Arabs everywhere and for all those who stand against injustice, colonial apartheid, and Israel’s illegal and brutal occupation of the Palestinians.

All Arabs grew up hearing one repeated political mantra: “If Egypt rises, we will all rise.” And now as Egypt is in the process of a magnificent people’s uprising it has sparked hope for the region and most of all for Palestine. The hope is that, triggered by the revolution in Tunisia, the Egyptian revolution will spread like wild fire and crescendo into a regional revolt against despots and dictators throughout the entire Middle East.

6 Ideas For Those Needing Defensive Technology to Protect Free Speech from Authoritarian Regimes and 4 Ways the Rest of Us Can Help

Introduction
The Internet remains one of the most powerful means ever created to give voice to repressed people around the world. Unfortunately, new technologies have also given authoritarian regimes new means to identify and retaliate against those who speak out despite censorship and surveillance. Below are six basic ideas for those attempting to speak without falling victim to authoritarian surveillance and censorship, and four ideas for the rest of us who want to help support them.

I. Ideas for Activists and Others Facing Authoritarian Regimes
  1. 1. Understand Risk Assessment

  2. The first step in trying to defend yourself against digital surveillance and censorship is to understand the concept of risk assessment. Risk assessment is the process of deciding what threats you face, how likely and serious they are, and how to prioritize the steps you can take to protect yourself. EFF’s section on risk assessment in Surveillance Self-Defense can help you with this assessment.1

China's Crackdown on False News Content via Eradication of "Content Farms"

Reporters Sans Frontieres(RSF) points out Chinese journalists and bloggers are to undergo six-month training courses that will teach them how to eradicate false news, improve the feeling of social responsibility and reinforce journalistic ethics. In short, to make journalists and bloggers themselves actors in censorship. The initiative comes from the Propaganda department, directly linked to the Communist Party, and follows its announcement of 10 directives relating to the press in 2011.

They impose a blackout on social and economic problems with a view to reassuring the people and defending the concept of fair growth. Many issues are off-limits, so that the party line is not challenged. They include the property market, rising prices, corruption, the demolition of housing and compulsory relocation, residence permits, the absence of social security, inadequate transport during the Chinese New Year and popular discontent that finds expression in anti-government demonstrations.

Yesterday, oil broke through the $100 mark for the first time since 2008 due to the populist uprising in Arab nations, indicating it's well on its way to new heights. Many financial insiders have predicted oil will go to $150 per barrel and beyond this year. But if $100/bbl was not odd enough given the stagnant (at best) economic environment, what could possibly make it jump another 50%?

The dollar won't drop that significantly over the next year, will it? If it does, calls to drop the petro-dollar as the reserve currency will likely turn to reality.  And surely the global economy is not expected to grow fast enough to warrant a 50% jump for the lifeblood of civilization. It seems clear that demand for oil will stay relatively flat, so only a catastrophic supply problem would justify these increases.

Enter the new supply problem.  A stunning wave of populist protests has swept through Egypt who control the ultra-important Suez Canal.  The Egyptian revolution is displaying powerful solidarity in their struggle to oust longtime autocrat Pharaoh, Hosni Mubarak, for corruption and economic suppression. And it's beginning to look as though Mubarak will eventually be forced out and new leadership will be throned to appease the masses.

Things Have To Change In Order To Remain The Same

The hypocrisy of the US government is yet again demonstrated in full bore force. The US government invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, laid waste to much of the countries including entire villages and towns, and massacred untold numbers of civilians in order “to bring democracy” to Iraq and Afghanistan. Now after days of Egyptians in the streets demanding “Mubarak must go,” the US government remains aligned with its puppet Egyptian ruler, even suggesting that Mubarak, after running a police state for three decades, is the appropriate person to implement democracy in Egypt.

On January 30, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declared that “freedom and democracy” America neither seeks nor supports the ouster of the Egyptian dictator.

Israeli prime minister Netanyahu told the US and Europe that criticism of Mubarak must be curbed in order “to preserve stability in the region.”

Communicate if Your Government Shuts Off Your Internet

Scenario: Your government is displeased with the communication going on in your location and pulls the plug on your internet access, most likely by telling the major ISPs to turn off service.

This is what happened in Egypt Jan. 25 prompted by citizen protests, with sources estimating that the Egyptian government cut off approximately 88 percent of the country's internet access. What do you do without internet? Step 1: Stop crying in the corner. Then start taking steps to reconnect with your network. Here’s a list of things you can do to keep the communication flowing.

IMF, warning of war, says ready to help Egypt

Breibart/AFP

The International Monetary Fund stands ready to help riot-torn Egypt rebuild its economy, the IMF chief said Tuesday as he warned governments to tackle unemployment and income inequality or risk war.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn also said rising food prices could have "potentially devastating consequences" for poorer nations, and warned that Asia's fast-growing economies faced a risk of a "hard landing".

Overall, according to the IMF managing director, widening imbalances across and within countries were sparking tensions that threaten to derail the fragile global economic recovery -- and could even spark armed conflict.

As Egyptian protesters gathered in their thousands demanding the departure of President Hosni Mubarak, Strauss-Kahn said: "The IMF is ready to help in defining the kind of economic policy that could be put in place."

Jordan's King Abdullah Dissolves Government

AMMAN, Jordan -- Jordan's King Abdullah II fired his government Tuesday in the wake of street protests and asked an ex-prime minister to form a new Cabinet, ordering him to launch immediate political reforms.

The dismissal follows several large protests across Jordan-- inspired by similar demonstrations in Tunisia and Egypt -- calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Samir Rifai, who is blamed for a rise in fuel and food prices and slowed political reforms.

A Royal Palace statement said Abdullah accepted Rifai's resignation tendered earlier Tuesday.

The king named Marouf al-Bakhit as his prime minister-designate, instructing him to "undertake quick and tangible steps for real political reforms, which reflect our vision for comprehensive modernization and development in Jordan," the palace statement said.

Al-Bakhit previously served as Jordan's premier from 2005-2007.

The king also stressed that economic reform was a "necessity to provide a better life for our people, but we won't be able to attain that without real political reforms, which must increase popular participation in the decision-making."

In an early chapter we met Dr. Rashid Buttar, author of The 9 Steps to Keep the Doctor Away, who along with Dr. Boyd Haley, then chairman of the chemistry department of Kentucky University, had considerable influence over my early thoughts in terms of the chemistry of mercury and the misery it measured in human terms. I actually worked in cooperation with Dr. Buttar in research and writings about The Rising Tide of Mercury that is occurring on our planet.

It is the inability to see the effects of chronic, low-level toxicities on human health that has been, and remains, our greatest failing as intelligent beings -- Dr. Boyd Haley

People should not be happy to know that even in these six short years since I began my study of the exceptionally strong neurotoxin, mercury pollution has gotten disturbingly worse in the world, and we have reports from the United States to confirm that. Our failure as intelligent human beings is costing us stupendously in terms of enormous increases in chronic disease in children and adults alike.

We commend Jon Gold and hope more activists follow in his footsteps.

An Open Letter to Egypt

Philip Brennan

Dear Egypt,

While our governments in the west have been watching events unfold in your country with some trepidation, We the People have been watching these same events with great interest and hope for you.

I have to admit that our governments here in the west are scum, just like your current government. We have democracy in name but not in reality - if we had a true free and fair democracy we would never have been dragged into the Communitarian European Union Dictatorship as we would have rejected all the treaties that had been passed without referendum. This was in violation of our constitution as enumerated in the 1215 Magna Carta, 1689 Bill of Rights, and 1700 Act of Settlement.

If we had honest government we would never have been dragged into illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the government would not have been running both sides in the forty year false flag terrorism operation known as the Northern Irish Troubles. Both Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness are MI6 double agents, and should be hanged for High Treason against both the Irish and British people. There are many others in Parliament who should also be hanged for High Treason.

Gulf Oil Spill Compensation Fund Issues 1 Final Payment Out Of 91,000 Claims

Brian Skoloff
AP/Huffington Post

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. — BP's compensation fund for Gulf oil spill victims has issued a final settlement payment to just one of the thousands of people and businesses waiting for checks, records show, and that $10 million payout went to a company after the oil giant intervened on its behalf.

BP won't identify the business, citing confidentiality, but acknowledges it lobbied for the settlement. The amount far exceeds smaller stopgap payments that some individuals and businesses have received while they wait for their own final settlements.

The Gulf Coast Claims Facility was set up in August to independently administer BP's $20 billion compensation fund in the aftermath of its April 20 oil well blowout off Louisiana.

As of this weekend, roughly 91,000 people and businesses had filed for final settlements, but the fund's administrator, Washington lawyer Kenneth Feinberg, has said those checks won't start rolling out until February at the earliest. Thousands of people have received some money to tide them over until a final settlement amount is offered, but only one business listed as paid on the facility's website has so far received a check.

Underground world hints at China's coming crisis

To understand how far ordinary Chinese have been priced out of their country's property market, you need to look not upwards at the Beijing's shimmering high-rise skyline, but down, far below the bustling streets where nearly 20m people live and work.

There, in the city's vast network of unused air defence bunkers, as many as a million people live in small, windowless rooms that rent for £30 to £50 a month, which is as much as many of the city's army of migrant labourers can afford.

In a Beijing suburb, beneath one of the thousands of faceless residential tower blocks that have carpeted the city's peripheries in a decade-long building frenzy, one of Beijing's "bomb shelter hoteliers", as they are known, agrees to show us his wares.

US issues terrorist warning for citizens worldwide

AFP/Breitbart

The State Department Monday issued an updated warning on the "continuing threat of terrorist actions" for US citizens worldwide, and a second advisory cautioning travel to Britain.

"Current information suggests that Al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks against US interests in multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East," said the advisory, which updates the last Worldwide Caution post from August 2010.

The State Department warned that militant groups could target areas where US citizens may gather in large numbers, such as sporting events, hotels, or places of worship.
