There is a new ‘war on drugs’ in this day and age. Everybody knows the dangers and risks of illegal drugs as well as addiction and fatal injury, but it may be surprising for some to discover that some of the most dangerous drugs are not the illegal, but the legally prescribed pharmaceuticals being perpetuated on a daily basis.
In 2009, it was recognized that prescription drugs were responsible for more deaths than traffic accidents. Prescription drugs such as painkillers are killing more people than top illegal substances like cocaine and heroin combined while selling rates soar — as well as unnecessary painkiller use.
Rush Limbaugh was one of the first people to popularize the issue regarding pharmaceutical painkiller dependency and the harmful effects. However, pharmaceutical painkillers are only but one of the many drugs ruining our society today.
Not only are pharmaceutical painkillers and other dangerous drugs like antipsychotics handed out like candy, but some are even introduced without testing, or even use perverted study results in an attempt to convey the false image of legitimacy. Drug companies like Merck and Baxter are notorious for their grimy misconduct and fraudulent practice in fervent promotion of their dangerous products.

Of course in the past 27 years vitamins have been effectively linked to 0 deaths, while pharmaceuticals have killed over 3 million individuals.
Rather than popping a pill in an attempt to resolve health issues instantly, real health and wellness starts with the individual removing themselves from the medical paradigm. The legal ones have the really nasty side-effects.
There's a big difference between legal and illegal drugs. With legal drugs big pharma realizes a huge profit, but with illegal drugs they get nothing. The results of the drugs however are much the same.
For anyone questioning Mike's comment here is challenge:
1. Go to your local libraries Reference Section.
2. Pick up a copy of the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) which is the MD's Bible on Pharmaceuticals and their effects and side effects.
3. Turn to the listing for Heroin and note the side effects.
4. Turn to the listing on Prozac and compare the known side effects.
Hint: Heroin has FEWER adverse side effects, and both are addictive. Both have side effects to withdrawl.
Now compare Heroin to Paxil, Zolofft, Luvox, etc., .... Note that in ALL cases Heroin has fewer adverse side effects.

I suffer from a cluster headache. A very painful disease. Thanks to the Internet I discovered that people use LSD or magic mushrooms to treat the disease. When I asked my neurologist about it, he said it was too dangerous. When I asked about other safer options, I was told that I coud have my facial nerve or occipital nerve cut or they can open my skull and put an electrode in it to stimulate the hypothamalus. Yep that's so very safe. Putting an electronic device in the brain is 'safe'... Of course people growing ther own mushrooms isn't very profitable.
the real threat to americans is pharmaceutical drugs. no reported overdose deaths from marijuana. genesis 1:29 says god gave man dominion over every seed bearing herb on the face of the earth. our government has a federal medical marijuana program, and classifies marijuana as a schedule 1 narcotic with no medicinal value what so ever. the american medical association encouraged politicians to examine the facts and evidence that points to marijuana being used medicinally for thousands of years. smiles
