Raw Story
Scientists at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine claim to have determined the proper dose levels needed to create positive changes in attitudes, mood, life satisfaction, and behavior that persist for more than a year with the psychoactive substance in so-called "magic mushrooms."
The findings are the latest in a series of experiments done at Johns Hopkins to investigate psilocybin, a psychedelic substance contained in certain mushrooms. The findings were published online this week in the peer-reviewed journal Psychopharmacology.
“In cultures before ours, the spiritual guide or healer had to discern how much of what type of mushroom to use for what purposes, because the strength of psychoactive mushrooms varies from species to species and even from specimen to specimen," said Roland Griffiths, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the study's lead scientist.

Brilliant study! We definitely need more like it, where scientists are allowed to carry out controlled experiments on illegal substances, which obviously have many potential benefits... I'm sure it's better than just a retarded blanket ban on everything, which does nothing but encourage the black market and earn billions in profits for drug cartels...
Medical marijuana works, hopefully there will be medical psylocibin in the near future! :))
Beats taking garbage, overpriced psych drugs with serious side effects, like diabetes. A friend of mine was on Abilify for a while. It made her symptoms worse plus it cost $30 per tablet. Pure crap.
Indeed, the stuff would be more equably efficacious slipped into the Wall Street and D.C. Villagers' water supply to supplement their suffering "altruism"!
illegal mushrooms, illegal plants...
see the problem yet?
As a person familiar with such plants and properties I can attest to the fact of their efficacy. In a wheel ride tallying well over 40 years now with an extensive self-test of 25 plus years in controlled and uncontrolled situations, attitude is 90% of the formula and skill the final 10% in a successful conclusion. I stand by that for all facets of life and the endeavors pursued. A silly a day keeps the blues away. 50,000 years of testing by aboriginals can't be wrong.
