The system was introduced Tuesday. When at the school, students will wear a jersey that has a small radio frequency tag. The tag will send signals to sensors that help track children's whereabouts, attendance and even whether they've eaten or not.
School officials say it will free up teachers and administrators who previously had to note on paper files when a child was absent or had eaten.
Sung Kim of the county's employment and human services department said the system could save thousands of hours of staff time and pay for itself within a year.
It cost $50,000 and was paid by a federal grant.

So, they want to chip us to save money? I bet the first person at hte school that said this is great technology, will also be the first looking for an unemployment check!
Of course. They'll use their budget deficits to say they need to save money -- but there is always a cost. People would actually give away their children's freedom. Sad, really. -- M.E.
I like what someone said on whatreallyhappened.com.
"implant, tracking devices, miniature CCTV cameras,drug/orgasm detectors,lie-detectors inside the veins and skull of EVERY US FEDERALLY-EMPLOYED MEMBER OF CONGRESS,BANKSTER,WALL-STREET BROKER AND IMF/WORLD BANK employee!
And tattoo a serial number on their arms!"
What a brilliant idea!
Sung Kim? Sounds Korean... North Koreans would love this sort of thing. So would Zionists, Neo-Cons/Neo-libs and any other totalitarian people.

They say this doesn’t violate your Fourth Amendment rights!
Being free people is essential to who we are as Americans, and that is being stripped away everyday all over the country. Since 9/11 our government has been trying to find new ways to control our lives, and both parties are criminal in this respect. Year after year we vote for the two parties in a hope that things will change, but when it comes down to the facts, it is proven that we get the same garbage from both parties.
Just softening up the adults of tomorrow for total governmental control and surveillance of their lives, nothing to see here lookie loo now move along and look at some singing baby or rainbow bs!
Yes, it's all done under the National Security directives. All rights have been suspended, and their just bringing in the high-tech control.

Every kid should immediately flush their 'device' down the toilet.
"School officials say it will free up teachers and administrators who previously had to note on paper files when a child was absent or had eaten."
Noting whether a student is absent is part of a teacher's job. I've never heard of recording if a student had eaten or not. What's the point?
Well, sure, every movement is tracked, getting kids used to monitoring. How about stop filling out the unnecessary paperwork? And how much paperwork could that really be anyway? A check next to a name? It's just a pretext so they can get the Federal money to implement the technology. Then we can speculate as to why the Feds are so interested in monitoring the movements of every child in the U.S. -- M.E.
Yes, they will try to use our children for their demonic agenda. Do not allow it! These precious kids are not theirs!
ID tags are great for administrators just like online grade checking is perfect for parents. Accountability is a wonderful thing and as a parent of a middle school student I am all for it. What could possibly be the concern about privacy? You can have all the privacy that you want when you are not at school.
I heard similar tracking device, eClick GPS Student tracker from Securus Inc. It is designed to provide an extra level of comfort in the event of an emergency for college students, faculty and staff, both on and off campus. If Student find himself in a dangerous situation, simply press the eClick alert button for 3 seconds to activate the device and campus police will receive an instant emergency notification. Most important, it's Privacy - it Only tracks in an emergency.
